A hearing date is only one part of a lawyer’s workload. Before the hearing, someone may need to review the file, prepare documents and coordinate with the client. Automated reminders can make those actions visible at the right time—but only if the underlying date is checked and someone takes responsibility for responding.
Start with the court information, not the alert
Morocco’s Ministry of Justice describes a hearing schedule service that lets users follow a case and its hearing dates using the case number and court. The service is available through Mahakim or at the court. justice.gov.ma
Use that information alongside the summons, court communications and other relevant case documents. When information differs or a date is uncertain, check with the court through the appropriate channel. A reminder is an internal prompt; it is not an official notice or proof that a date remains unchanged.
Build a reminder workflow around each case
- Record the hearing: enter the court, case reference, date, time and location when confirmed. Note where the information came from and when it was checked.
- Assign responsibility: identify the lawyer responsible and a colleague who can cover an absence. Agree who checks for changes and who updates the calendar.
- Separate preparation from attendance: add tasks for reviewing the file, obtaining documents or contacting the client. Give each task its own internal target date.
- Set useful alerts: for example, schedule one reminder several days before the hearing and another closer to it. Adjust the timing to the work required rather than using the same interval for every matter.
- Review and update: check upcoming hearings regularly against the relevant court information. If a hearing is postponed, update the event and its associated reminders and preparation tasks, then tell the people responsible.
These are office-management steps, not rules for calculating procedural time limits. A filing or appeal deadline may depend on facts other than the hearing date. The responsible lawyer should verify the applicable rules and triggering event independently; an internal reminder does not extend a legal deadline.
Test the alerts and plan for failure
A reminder is useful only if the intended person receives it. Test a sample event, check device and account notification settings, and decide how the team will review upcoming work if an alert is missed. For example, Google Calendar’s notification guidance explains that settings are personal and can be adjusted for individual events or calendars. This is an example of a separate calendar tool, not a claim about an integration. support.google.com
Keep client information out of unnecessary alerts
Use a discreet case reference where a notification could appear on a shared screen. Limit access to calendars and case information to those who need it, and assess any provider before using it for client data. Morocco’s CNDP guidance on information security sets out confidentiality and security provisions under Law 09-08. Firms should also review applicable notification, authorization and international transfer requirements for their circumstances. cndp.ma
Where a practice-management application fits
LawFirmApp, an Altweeb product, organizes matters, clients, documents, tasks, deadlines and hearings in a legal practice-management application with a calendar. A firm can use those capabilities to keep preparation connected to the relevant matter. Confirm available notification options separately before relying on them; no automatic court synchronization or reminder delivery is assumed here.
Bottom line: reminders support a reliable process when dates are verified, preparation has an owner and changes are promptly reflected in the calendar. They do not replace professional judgment or court communications.
